Education and Outreach

The InterRidge Office is pleased to announce the launch of the 2012 Student and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme. As part of InterRidge’s mission to promote international, collaborative, and interdisciplinary studies of oceanic spreading centers, we invite proposals for InterRidge Student and Postdoctoral Fellowships of up to $5000 US each.

InterRidge has been successful in its bid for $45,000 from the ISA Endowment Fund. This will support 3 fellowships annually between 2012-14, for early career scientists from developing countries. InterRidge welcomes this support and looks forward to working in close association with ISA to encourage young scientists in their careers in marine research. The InterRidge Student and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme continues to develop and reach out to the global community of young ocean scientists. There was a record number of proposals submitted this year and we were able to award two InterRidge-funded Fellowships, together with three Fellowships for students from developing countries, supported by the ISA Endowment Fund. In 2010, InterRidge members were invited to participate in a survey on the Statement of Responsible Research, devised in 2006. The results have been published in a paper entitled "Scientists as Stakeholders in Conservation of Hydrothermal Vents" by L. Godet, K. Zelnio and C. Van Dover. It can be accessed at:
