Notes on Vent Field Description: 
black smoker field on serpentinized peridotites; 2.5 miles NW of Ashadze 1; northern part of a wide terrace; small active crater with mixture of carbonates and copper-rich sulfides; Fouquet et al. (2008): "On the Ashadze 2 site a large group of smokers occurs, in a crater-shaped depression, about 25 m in diameter at the bottom of the graben structure. This constructional structure may indicate the sometimes-explosive nature of the hydrothermal fluid emissions."; Two types of hydrothermal deposits are observed: massive copper-rich sulfides associated with the black smokers and carbonate/sulfides chimneys (Fouquet et al. 2007).
